A view of the Double R Bar
section of the
Lions Club Gun Range:
the 'town' of Chimney Rock. |
The home range for the Double R Bar has always been the Lucerne Valley
Lions Club's Lions Pride Park. The range is located at
30200 Del Oro Road, Lucerne Valley, CA. (Warning: it's a private
road and not usually found on Mapquest, Yahoo Maps or Google Maps, or NAV
system databases.) Go to the intersection of Hwy 18 and Rabbit Springs
Road in Lucerne Valley, and you'll be at the right place. The range is
nestled against the mountains surrounding the northeastern side of Rabbit
Dry Lake.

From anywhere in Southern California or Southern Nevada: take I-15
freeway to Victorville area and exit at Bear Valley Road offramp. Head
east to where Bear Valley Road ends at Hwy 18, and turn right. |
Follow Hwy 18 to Rabbit Springs Road and turn left (there's a left turn
pocket for safety). Make another immediate left onto an improved dirt road
(at the BIG sign noting the Lions Club). The road is raised and edges the
dry lake. It will take you to the range.
The monthly shoot is held on the second Sunday and starts at 9:00 am;
shooter signup starts at 8:00 am. If you want to come out earlier (like
the day before), dry camping (no hookups) is free that Saturday night.
The Lions Club range is open to the public on Saturdays, 8am-3pm, for a
fee. Range rules apply.
Here is an interactive map showing the intersection of Hwy 18 and Rabbit
Springs Road. You can zoom out As far as you need to get the roads you
need to get here from where you are coming form.
Now here is a Google Earth photo map showing the private roads that
Map Quest does not show going to the range from Hwy 18 and Rabbit Springs
Road.
