Rewritten Bill to Restrict Ammunition
Sales
Sept. 08,2011 - SB 427 was passed by the Senate
with no amendments, 21 Yes, 17 No.
It is now on the Governor's desk. It becomes
law if he does not VETO it.

On 10/10/2011 - the Governor vetoed
SB 427.
with message saying to wait on amending until
the current law has gone through the court.

| It would have required;
1. Registration and finger printing of handgun
Ammo Purchasers
2. Mandatory storage & display requirements
for Ammo Dealers
3. Requires the Sale of Handgun Ammo through
the Internet or mail order to go first to a California Licensed Ammunition
dealer then to the buyer witht he associated fingure printing and signature
of the buyer.

| This will go in to effect Febraury
1, 2012, if the governor does not VETO it within 30 days of reciving it
from.
This is the same bill with a new number that was
struck down in January 2011 by the Fresno court. It was considered vague
on pisotl ammunition discription. The new bill makes all ammunition pistol
ammunition if it can be used in a pistol. E#ven if it was primarily a rifle
cartridge.
Also on the governor's desk is a bill that will
reqwuire all long guns to be registored like hand guns. This means they
keep the paper work. |
